We had some extra time to make breakfast this morning, so we made it special.
We had pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream.
We also made some blueberry muffins. Mmmm....

homemade oreos
Ingredients:
2 Devil's Food Cake mixes
1 1/2 cups of crisco (I only use 1 cup)
4 eggs
1 tablespoon of vanilla
Mix everything together well. The batter will be pretty stiff and thick.
Roll the batter into walnut sized balls, about an inch in diameter.
Bake 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Wait for the cookies to cool after cooking them, then frost them and stick them together to make an oreo. This makes about 65 small oreos.

a quick rain storm
It has been so hot around here lately. Yesterday we got a little relief from a quick rain storm.
Afterwards the flowers just looked so bright and pretty.
As you can see, it cleared up pretty fast. Nothing but blue skies.

Happy 4th!
Well I hope you all had an amazing 4th of July! I know that we sure did. The past days have been filled with family, parades, fireworks, food and lots of fun.
And of course it wouldn't be the 4th of July without watermelon.

Mmmmm.... (crepes)
I can't believe I've never shared this recipe with you. It is my all time favorite food- crepes. It's pretty simple. I make them at least once a week. They're good for breakfast, snack, dessert, brunch or pretty much anytime.
Ingredients:
1 cup of flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of water
1/4 tsp. of salt
2 TBSP of margarine (melted)
This makes 16+ crepes. When I make them I usually double the recipe. We found that if we triple it, it doesn't fit in the blender.
Just throw it all in the blender and blend it until it's smooth. We have a crepe maker that we cook them with, but you can cook them on a skillet. For toppings you can use fruit, nutella, yogurt, whipped cream, icecream or cinnamon and sugar. My favorite combo is raspberries, nutella and whipped cream. Mmmmm.....
