inspiration {water colors}

I found this inspiration on Pinterest and I just had to try it. I love the look and the style. Unfortunately, we were almost out of water colors so I didn't get to do as much as I would have liked.

I just found an old book (I've used it for several other projects) and ripped out a few pages. I trimmed the ripped edge so it was a nice clean cut. I then got what was left of my water colors and a thin tip Sharpie. I out lined my flowers and leaves in Sharpie and then started painting.  I hope to put them in frames and find a place to display them.

a little trip {to the beach}

We just got back from our weekend at the lake. We had an amazing time with all of our family. We spent the last couple days swimming, kayaking, building sand castles, walking on the beach, playing games, searching for shells, not getting enough sleep and having a blast!

diy (canvas bag)

I haven't been doing a whole bunch of crafty stuff lately, so I decided to make a new little bag. I got my inspiration from here. I found a canvas bag that we had. The only problem is that it had a big picture printed on one of the sides. I wasn't a fan of the picture, so I just sewed some fabric over it for the back.

On the front I made a little pattern with fabric paint and a paper doily. I cut a circle out of some card stock paper and used the hole that it made. I put the hole on the fabric and then placed the doily inside. I then painted it. I was having trouble deciding what color to do it in, but I finally decided on red.

 I didn't like the pattern all by itself, so I made some rosettes to put in the middle. (tutorial here)

 This is the fabric I put on the back to cover up the unwanted picture.

 I put a little pennant across the top of the bag. I just used embroidery floss to attach it.

 This is the bag before I sewed the pennant and the rosettes on.

 And this is the finished product!

some cool finds

We have been going through all of our sewing and crafting supplies and I found some cool stuff. Some of it is vintage and the other stuff I just liked.

 I was fascinated with these color coded buttons. I have no idea who did this, but it made me smile.

Old "Hooks & Eyes and Loops" in a cool vintage package.

 Some cool "Snap Fasteners" in yet another cool antique package.

 My new pencil holder and vase that I am amazingly pleased with.
My new favorite color scheme. (I'm not in love with the blue on the very top)

Our summer bucket list that we're slowly working away at.
I found this cool piece of bark and thought it looked like it had a heart on it. How cute!
