just some waffles

I love making and eating delicious breakfasts. One of my favorite breakfast food is waffles. We used to never make them because they would stick to our waffle maker. I love them so much though that I found that if I spray the waffle maker in between each waffle with cooking spray they won't stick. Here's the recipe I usually use. It's from "Betty Crocker's Cookbook." They're pretty easy and they don't take long to make. I usually double the recipe.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
2 cups of flour
1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted, or vegetable oil
1 3/4 cups of milk
1 tablespoon of sugar
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt

Just mix everything together and start cooking them. I think they're pretty easy. If I don't have time to cook all of them I just cook a few and stick the rest of the batter in the fridge for another time.

This is my favorite way to have my waffles. I put nutella, whipped cream and blackberries. Mmm.....delicious!

tullips and a blue mason jar

The tullips are now blooming the crazy. I decided to take advantage of them, so I cut a few to bring inside. I looked around for something to put them in and I was going to settle for a plain glass vase, but then I remembered my vintage blue mason jars. I had been looking for a use for them and this was perfect.

spring

I love spring. It's my favorite season of the whole year. Trees are blossoming, flowers are blooming and it's finally warm enough to go outside. Our peach and nectarine trees are blossoming. The pink blossoms looked so beautiful so I snapped a couple pictures of them. I also noticed that our tullips were popping up so I took of few pictures of them. I hope spring is here to stay, but it's supposed to snow in the next couple days. Oh well, we'll take these beautiful spring days when we get them. I just can't wait for them to stick around.

diy pencil bag

I decided to make a pencil bag yesterday. I was trying to think of a new original idea for it. I decided to use Capri Sun bags in the end. It only took about 15 minutes and it turned out pretty cute. I used 6 Capri Sun bags, 3 on each side. I sewed the 3 Capri Sun bags together for each side, but I didn't sew the 2 sides together. I sewed the zipper on next. I used a 12 inch zipper. After the zipper was attatched I sewed the two sides together. Make sure to do the corners of the pencil bag really well. I used zig zag stitching. It looks fun and it helps the bag hold together better.

This is one of the sides before I sewed the zipper on.

a new little bag

I've had this bag for a while, but I didn't like it very much, so I decided to "re-do" it. Before I started it had the word "love" across the front and a giant peace sign. Not my style. I looked through my fabric and saw that this strip of floral fabric matched the pink on the strap perfectly. It  was still a little plain with just the fabric, so I started looking for tutorials on fabric flowers. I found the tutorial for the rosettes I used here. The flowers were surprisingly easy. I'm thinking about putting some of these rosette flowers on a headband. I thought the bag needed a little something more, so I sewed some lace onto the edge of the strip of fabric. It added a little bit of vintage to the look.
