Smoothies (Orange Julius)

The weather around here is finally beginning to feel like summer. One refreshing treat that I love is Orange Juliuses. They are quick and easy to whip up and taste delicious!

1 can of frozen concentrated orange juice
1 cup of water
1 cup of milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 tablespoons of sugar
1-2 trays of ice

You can mix in any of your favorite fruits like blackberries, raspberries, bananas, apples, strawberries, or peaches. Just mix it up in the blender until smooth and enjoy.

A rainy day and a little craft

It's been rainy all day so we spent the day inside. I was looking on Pinterest for a little inspiration when I stumbled upon this. I like the style, but not necessarily the "gypsy" charm.

I like the multiple bracelets grouped together. I decided it would be nice to have a new little accessory, so I pulled out all of our beads. I already had a light blue bracelet, so I just decided to match my new bracelets to that so I wouldn't have to make as many. I made a turquoise one with some gold accents. For the other one I just braided some crafting string together. I was going to do a fishtail braid with it, but I didn't cut enough string, so I just settled for braiding it. I needed a new bright accessory for summer and this was just the thing. I threw it together in about twenty minutes. Pretty easy and very cute.

Congo Bars

Congo Bars have been a family favorite for a long time. I had a sudden craving for chocolate today so I decided to make these. They are delicious!
Melt 3/4 cups of butter
Add one lb. of brown sugar (2 1/3 cups)
Add 3 eggs
Add 2 3/4 cups of sifted flour
2 t. Baking powder
1/2 t. Salt
1 t. Vanilla

If you want you can add 1/2 cup of walnuts or a 1/2 cup of chocolate chips or both. I usually just add chocolate chips, but you can do whatever you want.

Put in a 9x12 inch greased cake pan Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
Enjoy!

What I'm thankful for

I've decided to start a new little thing each month. Every day I'll snap a picture of something I'm thankful for with Instagram on my iPod. Then I will share all of the pictures at the end of the month. I tried it out during April and I did pretty good remembering to take a picture each day. I'll see if I can keep it up.
